MATLAB for UiS Students and Employees

The University of Stavanger is pleased to offer a campus-wide license to MATLAB, Simulink and several companion toolboxes. The license covers on-campus and home software use for all instructors, staff, and researchers. Students are also covered by the campus-wide license and can install software on their home or laptop computers. Simply go to our MATLAB portal to begin software download, to gain access to online MATLAB training and many other useful resources.

How to associate with our license and install MATLAB

  1. Associate to the license with the MATLAB portal click on Sign in to get started
    • Existing users: log in to your MathWorks account with your @stud.uis.no or @uis.no email address.
    • New users: create an MathWorks account with your @stud.uis.no or @uis.no email address.
  2. Open MATLAB (If the license has already expired, the activation client will launch and you can skip the next step).
  3. Navigate to the Help Menu and select Licensing.
  4. Click on Activate Software.
  5. Log in with your account and choose the new license "40784422 - Individual".
  6. A new license file will be generated and downloaded.
  7. Once reactivated you will need to restart MATLAB before the new license file is recognized.

Why do I receive a message that MATLAB will expire in XX days?

Our Campus-Wide License has been renewed, you will need to update your license file to continue using MATLAB:
  1. Open MATLAB (If the license has already expired the activation client will launch and you can skip the next step)
  2. Navigate to Help Menu and select Licensing
  3. Click on Activate Software
  4. Choose to Activate using Internet
  5. Once reactivated you will need to restart MATLAB before the new license file is recognized If the installation has already expired, you will be prompted to activate when attempting to launch MATLAB. As long as the activation finishes successfully it will roll over to the new license file once the old one expires. You might continue to see the expiration warning in MATLAB until the old file expires.
